Mission FCU Raises $45K for Heart Association

SAN DIEGO--Mission Federal Credit Union raised $45,000 for the American Heart Association (AHA) with help of its staff, senior management team and the local community.

The fundraiser was part of the CBS Channel 8 and CW6’s “8’s Go Red” campaign. During January and February, Mission Fed sold Rhinestone lapel pins for a minimum donation of $20 as well as Tie Clips for $10 to raise money for the AHA’s San Diego Division. The donations came through Mission Fed local branches and by calling its Contact Center.

“All of us at Mission Fed were honored to raise funds for the San Diego Division of the American Heart Association,” said Debra Schwartz, CEO of Mission Fed. “The Go Red for Women movement touches hearts, saves lives and makes a real difference in the fight against heart disease.”

Heart disease is the number one cause of death among both men and women in the United States. According to the Centers for Disease Control, more than 600,000 people die of heart disease in the US every year, representing about one in every four deaths.
