MIDDLETOWN, Penn.–With nine contestants, 13 sponsors and a crowd of spectators, Mid-Atlantic Corporate raised $1,750 for Children’s Miracle Network (CMN) Hospitals during its 2nd annual Hot Dog Eating Contest.
Several central Pennsylvania credit unions came together for the event, which was held on National Hot Dog Day, to raise money for the local CMN Hospital, Penn State Hershey Children’s Hospital.
Brent Shaffer of Mid-Atlantic Corporate took the crown and surpassed last year’s record, eating seven hot dogs in five minutes. Over 50 hot dogs were consumed between the champion and his fellow contestants: Lindsey Brewbaker, Members 1st FCU; Richard Carberry, Sollievo; Andrea Hoak, ATON; Jeremy Holtzapple, First Capital FCU; Andrew Hummel, MY CU Services; Stephen Juliano, Members 1st FCU; Paul Perini, Belco Community FCU; and Brandon Wanner, Hershey FCU!
In addition to participating in the hot dog contest, each contestant received individual donations and pledges. Local credit unions and organizations also purchased Frankfurter Sponsorships for the entire event, including: AmeriChoice FCU, Belco Community CU, Cornerstone FCU, Feather CU Services LLC, First Capital FCU, Hershey FCU, Lanco FCU, Members 1st FCU, Mid-Atlantic Corporate, PSECU, Susquehanna Valley FCU and Wheatland FCU.
Additional funds were raised through food and beverage sales at the event.
