MADISON, Wis. – CUNA Mutual Group has named Tom Merfeld as chief financial officer. Merfeld joined the company in 1994 and most recently served as the company’s chief market risk officer. He will replace Alastair Shore who held the role since 2012.
“Tom has a strong mix of industry expertise and knowledge of our businesses,” said Robert Trunzo, president and chief executive officer of CUNA Mutual Group. “He is widely respected for his leadership and commitment to helping our customers build a better financial future.”
Before joining CUNA Mutual Group, Merfeld served as the chief financial officer for Savers Life Insurance Company in Kansas City, Mo., as an investment analyst for Franklin Savings Association in Ottawa, Kan., and as an assistant economist for the Federal Reserve Bank in Kansas City, Mo.
“Throughout his more than 20 years at CUNA Mutual Group, Tom has demonstrated clear leadership and integrity,” said Trunzo.
