CAPITOLA, Calif.–Noah Lehman, a Santa Cruz resident, was selected at random by Bay Federal Credit Union’s President and CEO Carrie Birkhofer as the winner of the “Why I Love BayFed Sweepstakes.”
Lehman, who was surprised with the news that he won while working at Woodstock’s Pizza, said he has been looking into buying a used car from his mom. He said he will put the money toward the car.
“I love Bay Federal because they are local and it makes me feel like I’m helping the community more than if I were to give my money to a bigger, national bank,” Lehman’s entry said.
Lehman currently attends Cabrillo College and enjoys biology. Eventually, he hopes to work in the field of biological conservation. He found out about the sweepstakes in an email newsletter from the credit union.
Bay Federal held the “Why I Love BayFed Sweepstakes” to collect stories of how the credit union has made a positive impact in the lives of its members and those in the community in its 60-year history. Members and non-members were invited to participate, with more than 2,800 entries coming in from across the country.
“As we celebrate our 60th anniversary year, it meant a lot to hear from so many people about how we helped change their lives,” Birkhofer said. “And I am thrilled for Noah. He seems like a kindhearted and intelligent young man.”
