Member One Helps With Renovation of Hospital's Teen Room

ROANOKE, Va.—A ribbon-cutting ceremony for the renovated “Teen Room” at Carolion Clinic Children’s Hospital was held here, with Mark Hudzik, director of business lending, representing Member One FCU, on hand to symbolically cut the ribbon.

The Teen Room is a collaboration between Fox 21/27 and Member One Federal Credit Union, which partnered on a series called “Your Red Band Society” to share with the community stories of hope and healing from patients in the area treated at CCCH and to raise money for this project.

Member One's gift of $10,000 for the renovation, and vendors Templeton Vest, Kegley Electric, and Lumenpulse Lighting Inc.'s contribution of over $4,000 worth of goods and services, helped make the new room possible.

The “Teen Room” at CCCH is a special place designed for teenagers receiving treatment for illnesses and injuries. Younger children enjoy the play room as a break from their treatments and both rooms serve as a critical part of the recovery and healing process, designed to maintain aspects of normalcy and fun in children’s lives while they are receiving inpatient services.
