ST. PAUL, Minn.– Mary Ann Kosel has been honored as a Credit Union Builder by the Minnesota Credit Union Network. Kosel has more than a half-century of service to credit unions in Minnesota as a member, volunteer board member, an employee and as a consultant. She is currently an operations support specialist at South Metro Federal Credit Union, and also serves as thee board treasurer at Wakota Federal Credit Union. Kosel served as a volunteer at Wakota on both the Board and Supervisory committee since 1991.
“A true credit union advocate, Mary Ann has provides pro-bono or low cost consulting to small credit unions for almost 22 years,” said South Metro Federal Credit Union President Don Crofut. “She volunteers her time for credit unions in need. When asked how many credit unions she volunteered to assist in some manor her best guess-timate was more than 50.”
”Mary Ann believes strongly in the credit union principles ‘People helping People’ and ‘Cooperation Among Cooperatives’, and has personally been instrumental in perpetuating the movement here in Minnesota,” said Wakota Federal Credit Union President Mary Matheson.
Kosel joins 43 other individuals who have been honored since 2008 with MnCUF’s Credit Union Builder Award. The names of the recipients and the contributing credit unions are permanently displayed in the Minnesota Credit Union Network’s lobby as a tribute to their accomplishments. The honorees receive a plaque from the Minnesota Credit Union Foundation, and donors are also listed online and in the MnCUF’s annual report.
