JACKSONVILLE, N.C.– –Marine FCU’s 26th Annual Charity Golf Tournament to benefit Hope for the Warriors and the USO of Jacksonville and United Way of Onslow County, raised $20,500 for each organization.
“We have been humbled to have such amazing support from our sponsors and golfers throughout the years. Over $1.7 million dollars has been raised for these organizations to date,” stated Chuck Collins, Marine FCU chairman.
Added Marine FCU President/CEO Jeff Clark, “The work that Hope for the Warriors provides on a daily basis for those who have been injured fighting for our freedoms is second-to-none. They reach out to support the families of those injured to help them cope with the issues at hand. Then we have the USO in Jacksonville … the oldest continually operational USO in the world. What they offer to our local military members is a taste of home, just when they need it most.
“And finally, our local United Way understands the special uniqueness of being in a military town, and focuses their efforts to meet those unique needs,” said Clark.
Since its inception in 1994, the funds raised from Marine FCU’s golf tournament have been used for the sole purpose of assuring that our military, and our communities serving them, get the support they need to achieve their goals of readiness.
“We are particularly enthused with this year's recipients. All three have been a strong community fixture of support for our Marines, their families, and our entire membership,” said Collins.
