LA CROSSE, Wis.— Friends and partners of Marine Credit Union donated more than $100,000 to support financial literacy and charitable causes in our communities as part of the fourth annual Marine Credit Union (MCU) Foundation Golf Outing. More than 140 golfers participated at the Golf Course at Cedar Creek Country Club in Onalaska, Wis.
Funds raised advance the work of the MCU Foundation, a non-profit 501(c)(3) organization committed to making an impact in the communities Marine serves in two ways: 1) giving out charitable contributions and 2) increasing financial literacy.
In May 2018, the MCU Foundation launched its Finding HOME program, a financial literacy program for credit-challenged borrowers that grants home loans to participants upon successful completion of program. Marine hired Majel Hein as a Financial Literacy Counselor in La Crosse to develop the program to increase financial literacy and stability of individuals in the communities Marine serves.
“We are excited to be able to help more individuals and families achieve and maintain financial wellness while providing the ultimate stability of homeownership,” Liz Popp, Executive Director of the MCU Foundation.
