MANCHESTER, N.H.–New Hampshire Credit Unions, all members of the Cooperative Credit Union Association, received special sweets/treats and personal expressions of gratitude from Make-A-Wish New Hampshire. Fifteen Wish children and their families along with Make-A-Wish NH staff visited 12 credit unions throughout New Hampshire to deliver their homemade specialties, offer personal thanks and share highlights of their wishes, made possible in part by the New Hampshire Credit Unions.
“Sweet Thank You week is the credit unions’ favorite tradition each year with our charitable partner, Make-A-Wish New Hampshire. We love spending time with the kids and their families that visit. It brings a smile to our faces when we hear about their wishes, the memories they made, and what it meant to their families,” remarked Brian Hughes, chair of the New Hampshire Credit Unions Social Responsibility Committee and president/CEO of HRCU in Rochester. “The collaboration of the New Hampshire Credit Unions over the past 23 years truly shows the spirit of community and we are very proud to play a big role in granting wishes for these wonderful kids as we embark on breaking the $3 million milestone this year for wishes.”
Wish Child Danny, age 11, shared the highlights of his wish – meeting Bruins goalie Tuukka Rask with the staff at Service Credit Union in Portsmouth. He had so much fun at the game and got to play knee hockey as he was only in the first grade and small, but he scored against the great goalie, New Hampshire’s credit union reported.
In Keene, N.H., at Precision Credit Union, Jeremy, age 16, shared photos and memories from his unforgettable trip to the Grand Canyon more than eight years ago with his mom. Jeremy said it was fun looking back at his photos from long ago as he remembered how cold the Colorado River was. He gave the credit union a special thank you card with his personal message of thanks.
Wish Child Ady, age 11, whose wish was a trip to the Orlando theme parks had one of the many “sweetest” gestures during the Sweet Thank You visits. She painted a wooden heart that she presented to St. Mary’s Bank President/CEO Ronald Covey, Jr. that said, “Thank you for supporting Make-A-Wish and children just like me.” Ady topped that heart with homemade mini red velvet cupcakes she made with a special gold fondant ribbon.
