EAST LANSING, Mich. — MSU Federal Credit Union (MSUFCU) has announced plans to open a new branch in 2024 in Brighton it said will connect MSUFCU’s Lansing-area and southeast Michigan membership bases through the Interstate 96 corridor.
A livestream of the groundbreaking ceremony will be held Tuesday, Nov. 21, on MSUFCU’s Facebook page, facebook.com/msufcu.
“Our goals in opening this new branch are to better serve our existing members living, working, and traveling in southeast Michigan, and build relationships with local community partners and organizations,” said April Clobes, MSUFCU president and CEO. “These efforts are at the core of our commitment to making financial services more inclusive and creating a positive impact in the communities we serve.”
The branch will be MSUFCU’s first in Livingston County and will serve the approximately 5,000 existing MSUFCU members who live nearby and the 6,000 MSU alumni and students in the area.
Construction is tentatively scheduled to be completed next fall.
The new branch will follow the existing layout model of an integrated design that offers sit-down desks rather than a traditional teller line, MSUFCU said. The stations will be staffed by employees who are universally trained to handle a wide variety of transactions, including opening new accounts and processing loan applications.
“Expanding to the Brighton area provides unique opportunities for MSUFCU to grow its membership and continue to fulfill its mission of helping members achieve their financial goals and dreams,” Clobes said.
MSUFCU has also submitted plans for a Novi location to open next year at 43420 Grand River Ave., which is a block from Twelve Oaks Mall.
