EAST LANSING, Mich. — MSU Federal Credit Union has been named field sponsor for the new John Smoltz Strikeout Baseball Stadium in downtown Lansing’s Ferris Park.
Within walking distance of the state Capitol, the stadium is a new conceptual baseball facility that allows players to pitch, hit, and field in a miniature environment. The purpose is to help children develop healthy baseball habits that enable their love of baseball.
“A facility like this can have a tremendous impact on the community by providing a welcoming and inclusive space for people of all ages and skill levels, whether you are part of the Lansing community or visiting,” said Arianna Ridderbusch, MSUFCU VP of community impact. “When this opportunity came to us, MSUFCU immediately saw it as a chance to support a space that would bring people together and help the next generation dream big.”
One of the unique aspects of Strikeout Baseball is its miniature stadium environment, which is designed to create a setting where everyone can participate, regardless of the size of the group. Whether it’s two kids, four, or even 10, the layout is tailored to accommodate and welcome players from all backgrounds and abilities. It helps break down barriers, promotes inclusivity, and encourages community engagement, creating a space where everyone can feel connected and involved.
“Baseball is a wonderful avenue for youth to come together, build skills, and learn key lessons in teamwork, leadership, and resilience,” Ridderbusch said. “By being part of this project, MSUFCU is supporting an environment where young people can grow, learn, and connect. It was an easy decision for us to get behind because it directly supports our mission of making a positive and lasting impact on our community.”
