CAMBRIDGE, Mass.–MIT Federal Credit Union has donated $10,000 to the MIT Staff Emergency Hardship Fund.
The fund provides financial assistance to MIT staff and postdoctoral scholars (associates and fellows) who are experiencing an immediate, severe, and temporary financial hardship due to a sudden or non-recurring emergency. The Fund consists solely of voluntary charitable donations from alumni/ae, faculty, staff, postdoctoral scholars and friends of the Institute.
To expand on its support of the community, the credit union is also offering emergency loans to their members as well as a special financial assistance program for MIT Employees.
“The credit union is constantly looking for ways to connect with and support the larger MIT community. When this opportunity to contribute to the Hardship Fund presented itself, at such a challenging time, and in a way that would offer support to so many dealing with an immediate need, we knew it was important to lend our support,” said Rui F. Domingos, president, and Chief Executive Officer, MIT Federal Credit Union. “The credit union is an integral part of MIT and we feel strongly that it is our responsibility to lend support in any way we can as a part of that community.”
