MECU's John Hamilton is Honored

BALTIMORE– MECU, Baltimore’s Credit Union, announced that President/CEO John Hamilton has been named recipient of the 2017 Community Advocate Award by the Baltimore City Chamber of Commerce. The Community Advocate Award recognizes an individual of a member organization who has shown their commitment to build a stronger Baltimore by serving the community in a distinguished manner.

The first annual Community Advocate Awards were presented at the Chamber’s “Breakfast with the Mayor” event, attended by over 250 local business, government and community members.

“As president and CEO, John leads with a passion for serving the community and the credit union philosophy of ‘people helping people,’” the credit union said.

In addition to his current role, Hamilton serves as a board member with Associated Black Charities, UMB Health Sciences Research Park, Community College of Baltimore County (CCBC) Foundation, and the Community Leadership Board of the American Diabetes Association.

“It is a great honor to receive this award on behalf of MECU and its dedicated employees,” said Hamilton. “We look forward to our continued partnership with the Chamber and Mayor Pugh to strengthen Baltimore’s communities by creating more opportunities for small businesses to grow and succeed.”
