WASHINGTON – The Metropolitan Area Credit Union Management Association (MACUMA) has presented its 2016 Lifetime Achievement Award to Brenda Turner, former President and CEO of Arlington Community FCU. Turner was honored at MACUMA’s Annual Leadership Conference, held at Nemacolin Woodlands Resort in Farmington, Penn.
The annual award honors metropolitan area credit union professionals or volunteers who have dedicated their lives to, and have made significant contributions throughout a career of service to the CU community. Award recipients are selected based on their high integrity, commitment to the association, and their contribution to the credit union industry.
Turner began her career in 1975, at Contelco Credit Union in Emporia, Va. In 1992 she moved to Arlington County FCU (later to become Arlington Community). During her tenure as CEO at Arlington Community FCU, assets grew from $20 million to $220 million. Throughout her career, Turner remained a champion of credit unions and an advocate for affordable financial services for credit union members, MACUMA said.
