Long-Time New Horizons CU Board Member Gerald Easley Passes Away

MOBILE, Ala.–Saying it is with "profound sadness," New Horizons CU has announced that long-time credit union advocate and board member G. Gerald Easley has passed away due to health complications. "Gerald Easley will be forever remembered as a great leader to New Horizons Credit Union and tremendous advocator for the Credit Union industry," the credit union said.

Easley worked for Scott Paper Company/Kimberly Clark for 35 years until his retirement.  He was a valued member of New Horizons Credit Union, formerly Scott Credit Union, for over 45 years and had served on the Alabama Credit Union Administration Board of Directors, the CU said.

"As a credit union volunteer, Gerald Easley gave 100% of his focus and time to the matter at hand and embraced each challenge with professionalism and fairness," New Horizons CU said. "He believed in the credit union philosophy of, “People Helping People,” both personally and professionally. During his credit union career, Gerald Easley served New Horizons Credit Union as a Credit Committee member, then as a Board of Directors member for nearly 30 years.  Mr. Easley was currently serving as Chairman of the Board."

Easley was a strong community supporter of various non-profit charities such as St. Jude Children’s Hospital, the University of South Alabama, Mobile County School System and others.  He also served on the Chickasaw City Council for many years.

"Gerald Easley will be missed by all who knew him.  He was a great friend, co-worker, husband, and credit union advocate.  He leaves behind a legacy of integrity, compassion and great leadership," the credit union said.
