JACKSON, Tenn.– Leaders Credit Union has won the Desjardins Adult Financial Education Award from the Tennessee Credit Union League.
The award was presented in April at the Tennessee Credit Union League’s Annual Convention in Gatlinburg, Tenn.
“We’re honored to receive this recognition from the Tennessee Credit Union League,” said Shea Brown, Director of Community Impact at Leaders Credit Union. “This award highlights our team’s tremendous efforts to invest in the financial well-being of our local communities and members.”
The Desjardins Adult Financial Education Award celebrates a credit union in Tennessee that is dedicated to ensuring their community has the financial tools and resources they need to excel in their financial health. Committed to providing impactful financial education, the Community Engagement team at Leaders are Certified Financial Counselors through the CUNA FICEP Program and taught 110 financial literacy courses in 2024. These courses were taught to various ages, economic backgrounds, and occupations across West Tennessee.
“Financial education in adults is crucial in many ways,” said Evan Flora, Community Engagement Specialist at Leaders Credit Union. “Not only can it help lead toward a healthy foundation moving forward in their lives, but it also can help the next generation of West Tennesseans by passing on healthy financial knowledge and habits.”
Named after the man who brought credit unions to North America, Alphonse Desjardins, the Desjardins Adult Financial Education Award honors the Desjardins program, which was created by the Credit Union National Association. The program recognizes credit unions leading the way for their members and community to provide them with the tools they need to improve their financial literacy. Leaders is honored to be recognized for their efforts to empower the community’s financial well-being.
