Landings is 'Dementia Friendly Certified'

TEMPE, Ariz.–Landings Credit Union recently has received the designation “Dementia Friendly Certified” by partnering with the City of Mesa and training with Oakwood Creative Care.

As a Dementia Friendly Credit Union, Landings employees are committed to supporting people living with dementia, and their caregivers. In addition to employees going through the certification training, each branch has Dementia Advocates who receive ongoing education to stay current with best practices so they can support the entire Landings team and membership.

According to the Alzheimer’s Association, Arizona has the fastest growing number of cases of Alzheimer’s disease in the nation, the credit union said, noting the number is projected to grow by 33.3% within the next five years.

“This process brought our staff together to learn how to recognize the signs of dementia and has given us the tools and resources to support our members and their families,” said Landings Credit Union CEO Brian Lee. “We look forward to working with our members and others in the communities we serve to create a better environment for those who have been affected by this disease.”
