Landings CU Gives Away Free 'Samples' At Event

TEMPE, Ariz.–Landings Credit Union gave away “samples” to more than 100 Tempe Chamber Members as they conducted their morning mixer at the main office of Landings Credit Union.

In this case, the samples were crisp, new $1 bills. “A lot of businesses events I attend give out samples of their products, so I thought what better samples to give out then money,” said Harvey Gibson, Landings Business Development Officer.

“But here is where the story takes on the holiday spirit,” the credit union said.
Members of the Tempe Chamber were asked by Landings Credit Union to bring either a toy donation for the Tempe Community Action Agency or non-perishable food for the United Food Bank. All of those in attendance who brought in an item were entered to win various door prizes. As the Tempe Chamber Members gathered in a circle Harvey Gibson announced that he would be giving out credit union samples and pulled out a stack of crisp $1 bills. There was an audible laugh and overall sense that this was new, and quite frankly pretty cool.”

Landings said that as its staff passed out the $1 bills to smiling, happy faces, someone in the group suggested donating the money back to the two charitable organizations that they had brought food and toys for. As promptly as the $1 bills were passed out, a basket made its way around the circle and the money given out was promptly returned to support the Tempe Community Action Agency and the United Food Bank.
