Landings CU Collects 13,000 Bottles of Water

TEMPE, Ariz.–Landings Credit Union ended its third annual water drive with a staggering 13,000 bottles of water. This month-long drive brought in donations from members, staff and business partners and was given to non-profits of the East Valley, the credit union said.

“If you’ve spent any time in Arizona in the summer, you know that it is blistering hot,” Landings said. “This time of year puts an extra strain on non-profits to keep families and homeless hydrated. This water drive has helped to stock the pantries at Tempe Community Action Agency (TCAA) and AZCEND.”

TCAA provides education, stability, and advocacy for low-income families, children, seniors, and the homeless.

AZCEND is a Chandler-based organization formerly known as Chandler Christian Community Center established in 1966 by a consortium of Chandler churches with the common cause of alleviating poverty in their community.  AZCEND has programs that include Community Action, Family Resource Center, Chandler and Gilbert Senior Centers, and an Interfaith Homeless Emergency Lodging Program as well as a Food Bank.

On June 13th, which was also the National Credit Union Development Educator (CUDE) Day of Service, Landings staff moved about 550 cases of water from their branch lobbies to the locations selected by the non-profits. Over the past three years Landings CU has donated over 38,000 bottles of water.
