LBS Financial Delivers Supplies to Middle Schools

LONG BEACH, Calif.–LBS Financial Credit Union has delivered school supplies to a number of local schools, including Franklin Middle School and Ernie Pyle Middle School.

Wendy Sowinski, principal of Franklin Middle School in Long Beach, provided the CU with a wish list at the beginning of the summer. On Sept. 9th, LBS Financial delivered thousands of dollars in supplies and items including: 1,400 Crayola markers, 864 colored pencils, 360 dry erase markers, 60 uniform shirts, 50 gift cards for student incentives, 10 electric sharpeners, a trauma kit for the nurse’s office, and a variety of other items from their wish list.

Five indoor floor mats with their school mascot on them have also been ordered and will be delivered later in the month.

During the summer, LBS Financial promoted its school supply drive for Franklin Middle School with CU members at three of their Long Beach branch locations and on their website. Members donated school supplies from the provided wish list the school developed. Internally, the Credit Union promoted two jeans days with staff, encouraging donations to wear jeans. Donations from the staff jeans days went towards the Credit Union’s school supply drives and was combined with a special budget set aside for the school.
