LBS Financial Collects School Supplies, Playground Equipment

ARTESIA, Calif. –LBS Financial Credit Union delivered more than 7,700 school supplies and playground equipment to Burbank Elementary to kick off its annual Adopt-a-School program.

 Principal Michele Robinson, of Burbank Elementary, worked directly with the credit union in the beginning of the summer to create a wish list of items for the school. 

“Their wish list included a variety of classroom supplies and physical education equipment for their playground including: binders, crayons, markers, a garage sports equipment storage organizer, hopscotch squares set, playground balls, pro disc cones, baseball batting tees, and more,” the credit union said.

During August, LBS Financial promoted the school supply drive for Burbank Elementary with credit union members and employees at their Cerritos branch location, social media, and website. LBS Financial purchased the playground equipment and many school supplies from Burbank’s wish list. Members and employees also participated by donating new school supplies during the month.

“It was an honor to be chosen as an adopted school by LBS Financial Credit Union,” said Principal Michele Robinson.  “The support shown from members and employees to our school community was heartwarming.  Our students and teachers were very grateful as we distributed the donated supplies.  Special people make special schools and we are thankful for our partnership with LBS Financial Credit Union!”

This is the CU’s 12th year of adopting a school in ABCUSD. LBS Financial also adopted two additional schools in Bellflower School District and Long Beach Unified School District. The credit union plans to deliver their supplies later this month.
