LANSING, Mich.—LAFCU has promoted Steve Jorgensen to vice president of lending, placing him in charge of the credit union's consumer lending operations, including financing for auto, recreational and personal loans. In the role, Jorgensen will oversee lending strategies designed to help members access financing for both everyday needs and major purchases.
Jorgensen also oversees loans originated through LAFCU's automotive dealership partners and leads the credit union's indirect dealer watch committee, which monitors program performance, analyzes risk and identifies growth opportunities within the indirect auto lending portfolio. In addition, he chairs the pricing strategy committee, which evaluates market conditions and recommends loan pricing to keep financing competitive for members.
Jorgensen brings 16 years of credit union experience to the position. Since joining LAFCU in 2017 as assistant contact center manager, he has held several leadership roles, including assistant manager of consumer lending, where he helped streamline lending processes, support staff development and expand loan options to meet evolving member needs. Before joining LAFCU, he worked as a contact center loan officer at an East Lansing credit union.
"Steve understands that lending is about more than approving loans," CEO Patrick Spyke said. "It is about helping members find the right financing for their needs. His strategic perspective, member-focused approach and ability to improve the lending process will help LAFCU continue providing practical financing solutions that support our members' goals."
