GLENDALE, Calif.–Los Angeles Federal Credit Union (LAFCU) joined more than 11,000 walkers and advocates at the 16th annual “Autism Speaks: Shine a Light” fundraiser charity walk at the Rose Bowl in Pasadena. Before participating in the event, employees and credit union members helped raise money and collected donations for the cause, which funds research into the causes, prevention, and treatments for autism.
This was the credit union’s fifth year participating in the LA Walk, which included sponsoring a booth and distributing eco-bags. This year’s walkers made the three-mile trek around the Rose Bowl and to date, have raised more than $713,000 for the worthy cause, the credit union said.
Through its charity organization Los Angeles Charitable Association, Inc. (LACA), LAFCU is committed to financially supporting charities and events like the Autism Speaks Walk in the Greater Los Angeles Area.
In fact, the credit union and its employees plan to participate in similar projects throughout the year, including feeding the homeless at the Midnight Mission in October and assembling food packages for the needy at the Los Angeles Regional Foodbank in November.
