LANSING, Mich. — LAFCU’s $1,000 donation to the Holt High School band program has earned the mid-Michigan credit union the school district’s highest accolade – #WowWowSuperWow, according to David Hornak, Holt Public Schools superintendent.
“We’re elated and extremely grateful to LAFCU for helping keep the Holt High School band in tip-top shape,” he said. “Holt school programs are doing some amazing things, but funding these amazing things can be difficult. Partnerships, such as the one with LAFCU, are critical to our success.”
This is the ninth year LAFCU has made a donation to a local high school band in fulfillment of the credit union’s entertainment sponsorship for the Lansing Regional Chamber of Commerce Annual Dinner.
“We love this sponsorship arranged by the Chamber,” said Kelli Ellsworth Etchison, chief marketing officer. “It definitely supports our credit union philosophy of ‘People Helping People.’ A great looking and sounding band can be the pride of a community, and additional funds for band programs can impact many students.”
Michael Emerson, Holt High School director of bands, plans to use the unexpected funds to bring in a professional quintet for an educational performance and a master class, to purchase new music, and, if possible, an instrument or two.
“This generous donation will touch all 215 of our band members,” he said. “It also benefits the Holt community because it helps build the band, which brings a tremendous awareness of Holt wherever the students perform.”
