Separately, to increase awareness, raise funds and help honor loved ones with autism, Los Angeles Federal Credit Union joined more than 55,000 advocates at the 2016 Autism Speaks Los Angeles Walk at the Rose Bowl in Pasadena. Before participating in the event, which fell on World Autism Day, hundreds of credit union members and employees spent two months raising and then donating nearly $7,000 to the cause, which funds research into the causes, prevention, treatments and cure for autism.
This is the third year LAFCU has participated in the LA Walk, which included sponsorship a booth and selling a specially-designed canvas bag with the Autism Speaks blue puzzle-piece logo. The goal of this year’s Los Angeles Walk was to bring in $1.95 million. So far, $1.3 million has been raised.
Through its charity organization Los Angeles Charitable Association, Inc. (LACA), LAFCU is committed to supporting charities like Autism Speaks, along with American Red Cross of Greater Los Angeles, Arthritis Foundation, Children’s Miracle Network, Los Angeles Regional Food Bank, Make-A-Wish Foundation, and The Midnight Mission, among others.
