MIAMI LAKES, Fla.- JetStream Federal Credit Union participated in the Annual Job Shadowing Day with Miami Dade County Public Schools. Four students from Barbara Goleman High School’s Academy of Finance were selected to participate in this event.
The students were first given an introduction as to how a credit union works and operates. They were then taken to various departments including, lending, collections, accounting and the call center; to shadow individual employees. They also met with Jeanne Kucey to gain a CEO’s perspective of running a credit union.
After the students experienced the operations of the credit union, they were transported to JetStream’s Miami Lakes branch to see firsthand how the front line works with the membership. At the end of the day, each student completed a 250-word essay about credit unions.
For the past eight years, JetStream Federal has participated with the MD Public Schools program of hiring interns to work at the credit union. The essays the students completed will be used to hire JetStream’s next group of summer interns.
