LOWELL, Mass.– Jeanne D’Arc Credit Union has named the 2023 recipients of the Steve Jones Legacy Fund.
The recipients include the Cooperative Credit Union Association – Bed for a Child, Greater Lowell YMCA, Town of Chelmsford Scholarship Committee, Girls Inc. of Greater Lowell, Lazarus House Ministries, and Marguerite’s Place.
Jeanne D’Arc Credit Union created the Steve Jones Legacy Fund through the We Share A Common Thread Foundation in memory of Jones, who was a 20-year veteran of the Credit Union and was known by many throughout the Greater Lowell community for his compassion, friendly nature, and unwavering dedication to so many organizations in the area. Jones passed away unexpectedly in September 2016.
The credit union said he had a simple but important message, "Go Forth & Serve.”
Today, Jeanne D’Arc Credit Union said it strives to honor Steve by supporting his mission daily through many community-wide volunteer efforts.
Members from the organizations joined the credit union at the UMass Lowell River Hawks hockey game to remember and honor Jones, who had an incredible impact on the local community.
“At Jeanne D’Arc we say that we have a heart to serve and Steve truly embodied that spirit. His message of “Go Forth and Serve” is one that remains at the core of what we do,” said Mark S. Cochran, president and CEO. “It was an honor to know Steve and we are glad we can continue this fund in his memory.”
