Inspire FCU Gives Helping Hand to Operation Helping Hand

BRISTOL, Penn.–Inspire Federal Credit Union has pledged its support to Operation Helping Hand in 2016. This will include a financial sponsorship, as well as help with logistics, volunteers, publicity, and food collection.

United Way of Bucks County's Operation Helping Hand Food Drive has been providing support to local food pantries since 1975. Now, for the first time in the project's history, a business sponsor is stepping in to help it grow.

“Giving back to the Bucks County community is a core mission of Inspire FCU.  Partnering with the United Way in support of this cause allows us to further demonstrate that commitment and more importantly help members of our community who benefit from this fantastic program,” said Jim Merrill, president and CEO of Inspire FCU.

Danielle Bush, Director of Community and Volunteer Engagement at United Way, is thrilled to be joining forces with Inspire FCU. "This is going to make a huge difference," says Bush. "In 2015, we collected over 45,000 pounds of food, almost entirely through local schools. I believe that with Inspire's help, we can do even better."

Operation Helping Hand is a one-day food drive that occurs annually in March. Food is collected through public schools, private schools, child care centers, senior centers, government offices in Bucks County and now, with the support of Inspire Federal Credit Union, local businesses. Each collection site is matched with a local pantry, making this a hyper-local opportunity to help others.
