Indiana Members CU Donates 5,000 Backpacks, School Supplies

INDIANAPOLIS–Indiana Members Foundation, the charitable arm of Indiana Members Credit Union (IMCU), provided 5,000 backpacks and 104,400 school supplies to local community organizations to help provide assistance to underserved children in the communities served by IMCU for the 2020 school year.  

Since 2006, Indiana Members Foundation has donated 59,000+ backpacks and 1,061,400+ school supplies to students in need in the communities served by Indiana Members Credit Union. 

Indiana Members Foundation partnered with the following organizations for its 2020 backpack donation: 

  • Family Promise of Hendricks County
  • Academics for Zionsville Community Schools
  • Morgantown Volunteer Fire Department
  • Merciful HELP Center of Camel
  • Johnson County Fast Track
  • Beech Grove City Schools
  • Open Doors- Westfield
  • Franklin Township Schools
  • Grace Mission/Sunrise Mission
  • Muncie Mission
  • Noblesville Schools
  • Boys & Girls Club- Marion
  • Chin Community of Indiana
  • Teacher Locker- Evansville
  • Clarksville Community Schools Corporation
  • Chapelwood Elementary
  • Indy BackPack Attack 

“With all the uncertainties that the pandemic has created this year, the need for backpacks and school supplies has been larger than previous years,” said Mandy Emery, vice president of community involvement for IMCU and executive director of Indiana Members Foundation. “The generous support of our employees, members and partners didn’t slow down.  We were able to continue our mission of putting the tools essential to succeed in school into the hands of those with the biggest need.”
