Hughes FCU Wins Good Neighbor Award

TUCSON, Ariz.–Hughes Federal Credit Union was named as a recipient of the Good Neighbor Award from the Better Business Bureau’s 2017 Torch Awards. The Good Neighbor Award recognizes a company that has shown a commitment to making southern Arizona a better place through community service. The nominated business and employees play a significant role in support of local charities or community service projects.

“Hughes Federal Credit Union has been making a positive difference in the financial lives of its members and giving back to the community for 65 years. In 2016 employees volunteered 2,231 hours and the Credit Union contributed $80,000 to local charities, reaching 26,670 students,’ reported Kellie Terhune Neely, VP Marketing. “We thank our dedicated staff, volunteer board of directors and Credit Union for their commitment to service and long history of giving back to the communities we serve.”

“The credit union has received state and national recognition for their community service efforts in the past and most recently was awarded the 2016 Dora Maxwell Social/Community Responsibility Award that recognizes a credit union in Arizona for the breadth and depth of social responsibility that strengthens their community,” added Terhune Neely.

Finalists for the awards were selected by a panel of judges independent of BBB, representing southern Arizona. There were 79 nominees in three categories.
