MOHEGAN LAKE, N.Y.–Hudson River Financial Federal Credit Union has presented two $1,000 scholarships to the 2019 Harold Gloff Scholarship winners at a ceremony held at the CU. The winners, Vanessa Deleg of Yorktown High School and Sarah Hayes of Pearl River High School, will use the funds towards attending college this fall.
“Education is of great importance to our credit union, especially given our history of serving local teachers” said Hudson River Financial President/CEO Thomas J. Powers, Jr. during the scholarship presentation. “Hopefully, our scholarships will help these two well-deserving students and future leaders of our community take the next step on their educational journey.”
The Harold Gloff Scholarship Program is an annual initiative run by Hudson River Financial FCU to provide scholarships to graduating high school seniors. Winners are selected based on academic achievement, extra-curricular activities, teacher references, and an essay discussing how the scholarship will help them achieve their educational goals.
The program is named after Harold Gloff, a long-time Credit Union Board member and Manager, who was also an advocate for education and its positive impact on the youth of the community.
