Because of the talent gap in its region, Heritage Trust said it partnered with the Chamber for their Business and Finance Career Academy programs throughout the school districts. Taking it a step further, the credit union said it also partnered with both Berkeley County and Dorchester County School District’s to launch two, student-run branches in local high schools. Through the student- branch initiative the credit union has been able to provide skills-based learning opportunities for both current and future generations of students. The third branch opened this Fall at Cane Bay High School. Heritage Trust is also working with Trident Technical College and their Youth Apprenticeship Program and is providing on-the-job learning and skill building for a student in the IT area for two years

“Being nominated for an Honors Night award is a powerful testament to a business’s brand and impact on the region, as nominations are made by Chamber members. This year’s finalists join an impressive group of businesses, each making an impact in our region,” said Bryan Derreberry, President and CEO of the Charleston Metro Chamber.

“We are honored to be recognized by the Charleston Metro Chamber of Commerce as the recipient of this year’s Trailblazer award. Heritage Trust has always believed in the importance of promoting education and financial literacy.
