GROVE HEIGHTS, Minn.-– Heartland Credit Union said that Abigail Teschendorf of Lino Lakes, Minn. has been awarded a $500 Scholarship from the Minnesota Family Involvement Council (FIC). This year, the FIC offered $10,000 in college scholarships to Minnesota credit union members.
Nearly 700 students applied for the scholarship from credit unions throughout the state. Applicants were selected based on school and community involvement. Students were also evaluated based on their answer to the essay question, “What is your interpretation of the American Dream and how do you plan to achieve it?”
Scholarships were given away to students in two categories: Traditional and Non-Traditional.
Teschendorf wrote “My American Dream is to become a respected individual in my career field (engineering), to be financially successful and able to provide my family with anything they need or want, and to leave an impact on the world through my work or simply through how I act and treat people on a daily basis.”
“We’re thrilled one of our members was chosen for a FIC Scholarship. We’re proud to support the great work the Minnesota Family Involvement Council does in providing financial awareness and we are dedicated to helping our members in any way we can,” said Heartland President Kathy Harrington.
