Heartland CU Staff Participate in 'CU Forward Day'

INVER GROVE HEIGHTS, Minn. – On Oct. 9, Heartland Credit Union participated in CU Forward Day by volunteering at North Valley Park. CU Forward Day is a statewide event among credit unions to spread kindness in the communities they serve.

Heartland staff painted the boardwalk and a set of stairs at North Valley Park in Inver Grove Heights, MN.

“Helping to brighten and maintain a local park in our community was a great opportunity for us to give back,” said Kathleen Harrington, Heartland President. “While we give back to the communities we serve in a variety of ways throughout the year, this day allows our entire team to come together and focus on one project. This is our third year participating and we’re looking forward to another great project next year.”

Heartland was one of 38 credit unions across the state who participated to spread kindness in communities on Columbus Day. This collaborative effort resulted in 12,224 volunteer hours in 80 communities with an estimated impact on more than 33,574 people in the state. Minnesota credit unions are dedicated to helping the people of Minnesota improve their financial lives every day and this event is a prime example of the industry’s focus on “people helping people.”

North Valley Park is a beautifully wooded area in the heart of Inver Grove Heights, Minn. This large park includes 58 acres of land. Amenities include baseball/softball fields, soccer fields, tennis courts (non-lit), pickleball courts, picnic tables, a grill and trails.
