HONOLULU – Hawaii State FCU has announced the 20 recipients of its Lowell Kalapa Scholarship program, who received a combined total of $80,000 in scholarships.
The students were awarded $4,000 each to go toward their tuition at an accredited university, college or trade/vocational school for the 2019-2020 school year.
“For the second consecutive year, we doubled our scholarship funding to support Hawaii’s students and help them achieve their academic and professional goals,” said Andrew Rosen, president and CEO of Hawaii State FCU. “Whether it’s through our annual teacher grant program or the Lowell Kalapa Scholarship, Hawaii State FCU remains committed to helping our keiki succeed. We wish these 20 scholarship recipients all the best as they continue on their academic journey.”
The scholarship recipients were selected based on financial need, academic merit and extracurricular activities. This year, 10 recipients are incoming freshmen, eight are returning undergraduates and two recipients are attending graduate school.
