Hanscom FCU Supports On-Site Academy

HANSCOM AFB, Mass.–Hanscom FCU’s board has presented its annual Board Memorial Award to On-Site Academy, a short-term residential treatment center for returning veterans and first responders who need support due to the particularly stressful nature of their jobs.

The $1,500 grant, which honors past and present Hanscom FCU board members, is given annually to a volunteer group that serves Hanscom Federal Credit Union’s membership base.

On-Site Academy provides specialized therapeutic services for returning veterans, police, firefighters, emergency medical technicians, paramedics and others experiencing the effects of traumatic incidents in the line of duty. Their facility in Westminster, Mass., provides a tranquil environment for these first responders to heal from the toll that witnessing the worst can take on them.

“The work that On-Site Academy does is inspiring,” said Ray Phillips, Hanscom FCU’s chairman. “We care very deeply about helping to heal invisible wounds, and On-Site Academy’s mission of supporting rescue personnel does exactly that. Our nation’s veterans and first responders have gone through so much, particularly this year, and deserve a place to heal from the traumas they encounter on the job.”
