Hanscom FCU Supports Community In Numerous Ways

HANSCOM AFB, Mass.– The Cyber Integration branch for the Command, Control, Communications, Intelligence and Networks Directorate received a sweet surprise when they won the Top Dog award for the most team spirit at the quarterly Team Hanscom Awards. Their prize? A candy-filled fire hydrant trophy, compliments of Hanscom Federal Credit Union.

The trophy is given to the unit that demonstrates the most team spirit and enthusiasm cheering on individual members of their units receiving awards. The trophy will stay in their work area until the next quarter.

“Yes, it’s a fun award, but team spirit is an important part of a team’s ability to work together in concert to achieve goals and objectives,” said Hanscom FCU Chairman Paul Marotta. “We’re always happy to give out this award to a group of people who get a kick out of supporting their colleagues’ successes.”

Separately, Hanscom FCU was recently presented with the America Saves Designation of Savings Excellence Award from the America Saves Weekcampaign, coordinated by the nonprofit Consumer Federation of America.

The Excellence Award was given in recognition for Hanscom FCU’s member outreach during America/Military Saves Week, February 26 – March 3, 2018.  The outreach included face-to-face conversations at nine Military Saves Week events where practical savings and investment tips were shared by the credit union’s Partner Relations team; a $25 Bonus Offer, which incentivized military members to open an automated savings account; and a fun and educational “Feed the Pig” event developed especially for kids, where children were encouraged to paint and decorate a piggy bank, then given instructions to keep their “piggy” healthy by feeding it “greens and minerals” at home.

The Excellence Award recognizes the important role that credit unions play in helping families save money and build wealth, and rewards those organizations that go above and beyond to encourage members to save for the future.

Finally, employees  from Hanscom Federal Credit Union volunteered at Fisher House Boston to prepare a meal for military family guests. Fisher House Boston, located at the VA Boston Healthcare System, West Roxbury Campus, provides no-charge accommodation to family members caring for hospitalized U.S. veterans.

“The families at Fisher House and their loved ones in the VA’s healthcare system have made many great sacrifices for our country,” said Hanscom FCU Chairman Paul Marotta.“Preparing a meal for them is a great honor for me, as well as our team, and something we look forward to doing regularly.”

Hanscom FCU has a branch at the West Roxbury facility and has supported Fisher House Boston since 2010, when the facility opened. Marotta, along with employees from Hanscom FCU, stop by four times every year to prepare dinner for its guests.
