HAMPTON, Va.– Hampton Roads Educators Credit Union has been was awarded a $10,000 grant to implement additional features to improve the member’s online experience.
The grant will fund the technical upgrade of the credit union’s ability to perform videochat banking with members via the credit union website. In addition, the grant will fund ATM deposit processing software that will allow an automated release of deposits to members when the credit union is closed on holidays, after hours or on weekends.
The grant is one of $3.1 million awarded by NCUA to 142 low-income and minority depository institutions.
“These features will ensure that Hampton Roads Educators remains competitive in the market and that we ensure doing business with us is a convenient and positive experience for our members,” stated HRECU CEO Karen Orie.
The upgrades will become available to members by the first of the year.
