BANNOCKBURN, Ill.—Five Great Lakes Credit Union (GLCU) employees participated in the 4th Annual 5k EmpoweRun event located at Independence Grove Forest Preserve. This 5k directly benefited A Safe Place, one of Great Lakes CU’s 2016 Charities of Choice.
When asked about the event, Jackie Allen, one of GLCU’s employee participants commented, “The run itself was tough because it was such a windy day, but knowing I was running for a great cause made it easy. Accomplishing a 5k is nothing in comparison to the incredible transformations A Safe Place helps people make on a daily basis. I am lucky to be a part of a company that partners with this wonderful organization!”
A Safe Place is the sole provider of services exclusively addressing domestic violence in Lake County, Illinois. Through multi-faceted programs they assist victims in transforming their lives after domestic violence, prevent future abuse by addressing its root cause through abuser intervention programs, and educate the community about domestic violence.
