Great Lakes CU Continues Random Acts of Kindness

BANNOCKBURN, Ill.–In celebration of GLCU’s Random Acts of Kindness initiative, Nikki Appleyard, manager of GLCU’s Naperville branch, and her team visited the local Ogden 6 Classic Cinema and surprised 25 movie patrons with free admission, while separately the CU also delivered some gift baskets to new college students.

“I was touched by the appreciation the recipients showed. Everyone was very happy and shocked to have GLCU pay for their movie tickets,” said Appleyard. “We actually had one movie-goer tell us we sponsor her soccer team, and another patron offered to buy us popcorn as her random act of kindness. As a new manager it is a great experience to be able to give back to our community like this.”

Separately, Dianne Thevenot, the manager of GLCU’s Willow Springs branch, and her team recently joined forces with a local beauty salon, Tess’s Place Style Shop, to provide gift baskets to two local college-bound students. The baskets were filled with college essentials, including a new printer, pillow cases, bed protectors, etc. GLCU employees also passed out Krispy Kreme doughnuts to the salon’s clients.

Dianne Thevenot, GLCU’s Willow Springs Branch Manager, presents college themed gift basket to Denise Robertson, local high school graduate, and surprises Tess Daniel, owner of a local beauty salon, with doughnuts for her patrons as Random Acts of Kindness.
