Goldman, Chairman of Marine FCU, Passes

JACKSONVILLE, N.C.--C. M. "Marty" Goldman, chairman of Marine Federal Credit Union, has died.

Marty Goldman

The CU stated Goldman "will forever be remembered as a person who embodied the esprit de corps of what it means to be a volunteer. On February 3, 1964, he voluntarily chose to serve his country by joining the United States Navy. In 1992, after 28 years of dedicated service, which included two tours in Vietnam, he retired as a Command Master Chief of the Naval Hospital aboard Marine Corps Base Camp Lejeune and made his home in Jacksonville."

“He used to come in to our Camp Lejeune branch and was always very nice and so happy. He will be missed,” said Jessica Cordova, Marine FCU employee. Goldman transitioned from serving his country to serving his community. In 1990, he became a volunteer on Marine FCU’s Supervisory Committee, later holding the position of the Chairman from 1992 to 1999. In 1993, he was elected to the Board of Directors and in 2005, became Chairman of the Board.

“Not only did Marine Federal lose a leader with 28 years volunteer experience, half of which was as our Chairman, but our community lost a champion. May God rest his soul!” said Chuck Collins, Marine FCU Vice Chairman.
