LAS VEGAS– Glenn Trowbridge, longtime volunteer member of the Clark County Credit Union board of directors, announced his resignation at the monthly board meeting March 17, 2016, after serving on the board continuously for 30 years.
During his 30 years on the board of directors, Trowbridge served in a role that developed and monitored safety and soundness as well as guiding policy for the credit union’s operations. He was essential in growing the credit union, which held a little more that $100 million in assets when Trowbridge joined the board of directors in 1986, to its current asset holdings of nearly $600 million. In that time, CCCU has also expanded its original two small branches to six branches, a 24-hour phone center, and more than 38,000 members.
Chairman of the Board Eric Jorgenson said of Trowbridge’s resignation, “On behalf of the board, I express our gratitude that you stayed on for the last few years. These were challenging years where we most benefited from your strength and from your historical perspective.”
In addition to serving the credit union during its years of substantial growth, Trowbridge was with the company through the economic downturn, beginning in 2008. “I’ve seen a lot of things in my time of service at Clark County Credit Union,” said Trowbridge. “The economy crashed in 2008 and we felt the restrictions and losses that our members and the community felt. Still we managed to maintain the credit union’s overall health. Now we’re back on a growth track and resumed the dividend and I’m glad to see it.”
Trowbridge has been involved in community and public service throughout southern Nevada. He was appointed to fill a vacant seat in Assembly district 37 for the 2015 legislature. He retired after 22 years with Clark County government, 17 of those years as executive director of the Department of Parks and Recreation. Trowbridge is also a professional judge for boxing and mixed martial arts matches. He has judged thousands of fights around the world including Mike Tyson, Evander Holyfield, Ronda Rousey, George Foreman, Manny Pacquiao and Floyd Mayweather, Jr.
Trowbridge’s resignation from the CCCU board of directors was effective March 17. Current board chairman Eric Jorgenson announced that Michael Schramm of the CCCU Audit committee had been appointed to fill the remainder of Trowbridge’s term. CCCU board members are typically elected by the credit union members to fill their two-year terms on a volunteer basis. The next election will be held in December 2016.
“My service to the community here has been a very instructional one for me,” said Trowbridge. “I’ve learned how money is made and lost, and how to best guide a nonprofit organization for the benefit of others. I was fortunate to attended seminars sponsored by the credit union that accelerated my learning. The organization is headed in the right direction and with my departure, I can now look forward to benefiting from the continued success as a regular member of the credit union. I’ve been here for 30 years – that’s a long time to volunteer for anything.”
