Gesa CU Launches Foundation

RICHLAND, Wash. ‒ Gesa, a community-focused credit union, has launched the Gesa Community Foundation, which will oversee the credit union’s grant and scholarship programs, including Gesa’s distinguished Local Heroes Grants Program and College Scholarship Program.

“Although we continue to grow, our values remain the same – we’re always committed to making a positive impact on the communities we serve. It’s our hope that with this new advancement, we’ll be able to expand on that commitment through our charitable giving, and to further support our local communities.” said Don Miller, president and CEO of Gesa Credit Union. “We’re incredibly thrilled to launch our new Gesa Community Foundation and welcome our inaugural board members.”

The Foundation will be led by executive director, Angie Brotherton, a combined 18-year Gesa team member and creator of many of Gesa’s existing community programs. Brotherton will work in concert with five board members consisting of Gesa leadership and community members, the CU said.

The newly appointed board’s first responsibility was the selection of the 2022 recipients for Gesa’s Local Heroes Grants Program, which allows organizations that support Local Heroes in Washington, such as firefighters, healthcare workers, law enforcement, teachers and veterans, to apply for grants to support their efforts.

“The formation of the Foundation will allow us to put an even greater emphasis on our community giving and I’m beyond honored to be given the opportunity to shepherd our collective efforts,” said Angie Brotherton, executive director. “We’re grateful that our board members represent all parts of the state, as each persons’ unique perspective and experiences will only help strengthen the Foundation and its impact across Washington.”
