Georgia’s Own CU Marks Earth Day With Cleanup, Tree-Care Efforts Across Three Cities

ATLANTA— Georgia’s Own Credit Union said it mobilized employees across three communities for Earth Day, partnering with local organizations to support environmental cleanup and conservation efforts in the areas it serves.

In Atlanta, volunteers worked with Trees Atlanta at Atlanta Memorial Park, spending several hours weeding, mulching, staking and watering young trees to support the city’s urban forest. Additional efforts included a street cleanup in Albany alongside Keep Albany-Dougherty Beautiful, as well as a riverfront effort in Kingsland with St. Marys Riverkeeper that resulted in the removal of approximately 150 pounds of litter.

“Earth Day serves as a critical reminder we all have a part to play in keeping our planet healthy,” President and CEO Dave Preter said in a statement, adding the partnerships provided meaningful opportunities for employees to give back while helping preserve local communities for future generations.
