AUBURN, Mich.– Genisys Credit Union has announced a partnership with Independence Township Parks, Recreation, & Seniors (ITPRS) to raise funds to build an accessible and inclusive playground at Bay Court Park.
“A central mission as a community partner is to ensure each member in our communities has access to thrive in their environment,” said Jackie Buchanan, president and CEO of Genisys Credit Union. “Our dedication to the public is inseparable from our commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion. We are excited to help ITPRS advance their initiative to create a shared community space.”
Accessible and inclusive playgrounds are intentionally designed to consider its use by children and adults with varying levels of physical, emotional, and cognitive abilities typically featuring rubber safety surfacing, sensory-friendly equipment, transfer level decking onto playscapes, spaces for quiet independent play, and more with plenty of options for all abilities.
Bay Court Playground was built in 1994, led by inspiration and passion of community volunteers. It has provided three generations the opportunity to create memories, pursue active lifestyles, and expand their imaginations through creative play. The new playground will be an inclusive space for visitors of all abilities and ages to have the opportunity to play.
Funds raised will be matched by the Independence Township Board up to $100,000.
