TAMPA, Fla.–GTE Financial Credit Union is reporting it “reinvented” Take Your Son or Daughter to Work Day with a huge event filled with an array of activities including educating the youth on financial literacy.The credit union hosted 103 children this year.
Participants had the opportunity to stop by the YMCA selfie station to commemorate the fun day. Bricks 4 Kidz was on hand to help the kids build specially-designed models, play games, explore the world of engineering, architecture, and movie-making using Legos. After lunch, the children visited several rotating stations which include face painting, outdoor games, giant Jenga, giant Connect 4, volleyball, video game truck, and much more. The day ended with a friendly game of bingo.
“This national observance goes beyond the standard practice of ‘shadowing’ an adult. It helps to expose children to what their parents do during the workday but also assists them with discovering the power and possibilities associated with a balanced work and family life,” the credit union said. “In so doing, they take their first steps toward a career path while having a great time and enjoying hands-on learning.”
