GTE Financial Announces Promotions, New Hires

TAMPA– GTE Financial has announced the promotions of several of its key internal team members and the hiring of its new chief talent officer. The promotions are a testament to the hard work and dedication of employees who have played an integral role in the growth of the credit union and who are critical to the nonprofit’s strategic direction.

“Each executive is an exceptional leader and I am privileged to have them at the helm of our credit union,” said Brian Best, president and CEO of GTE Financial. “With these talented individuals, we will continue to strive for the best experience our members and employees deserve.”

Veteran executive Brad Baker is among those climbing the ladder.  He will now serve as executive vice president and chief financial officer.  Baker has been with GTE for more than 25 years and began as director of accounting. He later became vice president of Finance and vice president of Member Services. In his new role, he will oversee marketing and GTE’s member experience department.

Scott DeThomas has been promoted to senior vice president and chief experience officer (CXO).   DeThomas previously served as senior vice president of Member Sales and Services at GTE Financial and was Colonel and Wing Commander of the 6th Air Mobility Wing at MacDill Air Force Base in Tampa. DeThomas has worked diligently with his team to continue improving GTE’s member experience within its member care department and Community Financial Centers.  In addition, he will oversee administration, facilities and business continuity planning. 

GTE Financial has named Jasiel Legon the new senior vice president and chief talent officer. He has more than 20 years of experience in banking and a wealth of experience in human resources.  In 2012, Legon became the vice president of People and Culture for Oportun, Inc., where he built the company’s human resources department and hired the entire HR team in the U.S. and at the Mexico affiliate to support business structure and high growth demands.

Chad Burney is the chief information officer for GTE Financial and has added chief operating officer to his title and responsibilities. He is a highly accomplished, award-winning, information technology leader with repeated success leading and directing technology and business operations.

GTE Financial has promoted Mandy Zurbrick, a seasoned marketing executive, to senior vice president and chief marketing and strategy officer.  Zurbrick began with GTE 10 years ago as the credit union’s marketing director.  Six years ago, she was elevated to vice president of Marketing and Promotions. Zurbrick has also developed a formidable team that has won numerous national awards for excellence in marketing.

GTE Financial has promoted Jennifer Maxfield to vice president of Marketing.  Maxfield has been on the forefront of GTE’s marketing strategies as assistant vice president of Marketing.  She created the strategies that have played a pivotal role in developing GTE’s unique brand. Maxfield will oversee the introduction of new company products while assisting the executive team with strategic company initiatives.
