BANNOCKBURN, Ill.–Great Lakes Credit Union said its community-wide school supply drive gathered more than 7,500 individual items from collections at its branches.
"Education is the cornerstone of a strong community, and we're committed to supporting it in any way we can," said Steve Bugg, president and CEO of GLCU. "One of the simple joys of starting a new school year is the excitement that comes with new school supplies. Unfortunately, this is a pleasure that many children in our community are denied due to financial constraints. We wanted to change that.
“We are generously thanking our members who joined us in this effort to ensure every student starts the school year equipped for success. Every donation has made a huge difference to benefit our local communities," continued Bugg.
The donated supplies are being delivered directly to 13 local elementary schools in the area, including: Beulah Park Elementary School in Zion, the Mae Jemison School in Country Club Hills, the CUSD 187 school in North Chicago, and John T. McCutcheon Elementary School in the Chicago-Uptown neighborhood to name a few. Visit us here to see the full list of schools to benefit from the school supply drive.
