GREEN BAY, Wis.– Fifty small businesses around the City of Green Bay took the idea to shop locally on Small Business Saturday, and then went one step further. They offered a “Shop Green Bay First Small Business Passport” as a way for customers to receive rewards such as specials, discounts, and refreshments as they “Shopped Small” on Small Business Saturday.
“We offered the program for the first time this year and it was so well received that we are excited to start planning for 2017,” said Heather Wessley, Marketing Events Specialist with Fox Communities Credit Union. “By partnering with the City of Green Bay, On Broadway, Inc., Olde Main Street, Downtown Green Bay, Inc., and Military Avenue Business District, proved to be a great way to make customers aware of the multitude of small businesses throughout the city.”
The credit union said more than 100 passports were turned in with five stamps indicating they had supported at least five different small businesses that day. From those, individual prizes were awarded worth over $2,000.
