AUSTIN, Texas – Dale Lyon, a former CEO and Board member of United Heritage Credit Union, passed away January 7, 2016 at the age of 86. Mr. Lyon served as an employee of United Heritage for 16 years, serving as CEO for nine of those years, before retiring in 1994. He also served on the Board of Directors of the Credit Union for a total of 26 years, holding the positions of Vice Chairman and Chairman during his tenure. He was a 2003 graduate of the Credit Union Directors Leadership Institute, achieving the designation of Certified Credit Union Director. Mr. Lyon joined United Heritage, formerly Bergstrom Federal Credit Union, during his 29 years of service with the United States Air Force, where he achieved the rank of Chief Master Sergeant. Mr. Lyon also served on the Board of Directors of the United Heritage Charity Foundation for nine years.
“Dale was a valued member of the United Heritage family. We truly appreciate his many years of service to the Credit Union and the contributions he made to our community. His presence and friendship will be missed by everyone,” May Lofgreen, Chairman of the Board of Directors of United Heritage Credit Union, said in a statement. “Dale was a friend to all and embodied the credit union philosophy of ‘People Helping People’ in his daily life.”
Buddy Schroeder, CEO of United Heritage Credit Union, called Mr. Lyon a leader whose achievements are reflected in all he did, including the success of the Credit Union during his 40-plus years of service. He served others in every aspect of his life.
